Climate Change and Old World Philosophy

Philosophy is about positing possible solutions where none other can be found. In a sense it’s about human logic versus reality. Good stories gather followers and things that appear normal are often turned on their heads when evidence to the contrary is available. That applies to climate change versus old world philosophy and incorrect notions that everything that God does is good and that an eternal paradise awaits us.

The real God is the Great Spirit of the Universe, as my reincarnation experience testifies. With that driving me the goal to separate reality from supposition has never waned and my life has been one of searching. Consequently my search took me far and wide into corners of human development that few would or could tread. So what is reality?

Nothing is closer to it than the fact that the world is fast approaching its end. Even with that looming the arguments against climate change are almost as blatant as those for it. In other words, humans are as confused as ever about what is happening to them and the planet.

In Australia we face catastrophic conditions throughout summer as fires rage throughout New South Wales and Queensland. They will gather pace with cyclonic winds over drought conditioned woodlands and plains. They are impossible to stop as the environment is right for massive destruction.

Even in the face of this the government refuses to contemplate climate change as the cause. With many parliamentarians blinded by religious philosophy that the world was created in six days and will not end until Jesus Christ returns, there is no persuading them.

What does it take to change this view into something closer to the facts? In the old world thinking nothing could happen that opposed the religious view that only what is laid down in holy books is fact. This is naïve and wrong when it comes to what is now happening.

While many politicians are religiously orientated they appear to have no mind to accept climate change as a reality. They are prone to accept the nonsensical view that heaven awaits them and that the god they worship won’t destroy the planet. A philosophical miscalculation of major proportion is obviously behind it along with the money factor that drives them into believing it.

The Madness Chronicles – Special Edition

In this Special Edition of the Madness Chronicles, we’ll take a look at the madness of the Coronavirus. Remember, madness is a state of being mentally ill, especially severely, extremely foolish behavior, and a state of frenzied or chaotic activity. Let’s take a look at the panic taking place in America.

My daughter called from Utah today with news their Governor had declared a state of emergency. He announced no gatherings of over 100 people. She went for a routine trip to Walmart for groceries and found a madhouse. She sent pictures. The shelves are bare! She described a scene right out of the movies. Umm? It appears to be a state of frenzied and chaotic activity.

Another daughter called and described empty shelves where toilet paper stood in a Walmart near us in Montana. There are now reports of toilet paper and hand sanitizer shortages nationwide. Curiously, soap remains in abundance. Our Montana Governor, hearing of the toilet paper shortage, declared a state of emergency in Montana.

In the Governors press statement he acknowledged that no cases of the virus have been found, although forty people have been tested, all negative. But, he said that by ‘officially’ declaring a state of emergency, he could immediately make $16 million available, and it would allow him to call up the Montana National Guard. Being quick even in my old age, I thought, will the guard be able to protect us from the virus?

My Utah daughter called back after getting home and told us that the Mormon church announced they’d be closing all meetings starting Monday, March 16. Again, being quick in my old age, I thought, umm, I guess the virus is unable to get anyone until the 16th. Interesting? But before my wife and I returned home after our daughters call the Mormon church had reconsidered and announced they were canceling all church meetings worldwide until further notice. Maybe I channeled a thought there way, you never know.

The scene described above is being repeated across America. As of a couple days ago, Washington state reported I believe nine deaths from the Coronavirus. But if you dig a little deeper, you find all were elderly and living in nursing homes. And none, as in zero, had actually been medically confirmed to have died of the virus. They were only ‘suspected’ of dying from the virus. Could there be some extremely foolish behavior by the media going on here? You decide.

The NBA announced they were considering the possibility of not allowing fans into games. With that news, the self-appointed King of Everything, Lebron James, let the world know HE would not be playing before empty seats. A couple days later, a member of the Utah Jazz tested positive for the virus, and the NBA suddenly announced they were canceling the entire season. A strong reaction for one player infected.

The NCAA had previously announced that their basketball tourney, March Madness would be played in front of only family members and the media. We all know they can’t be infected. And the tumbleweed of madness gained momentum colleges, high schools, and elementary schools are announced closings. And did you know the Surgeon General announced the flu is more of a threat to young people than the Coronavirus?

Sometimes madness is genius. Remember when Saul Alinsky, he is Karl Marx 4.0, said, “The issue is never the issue.” Think about that for a minute. Then think of former Chicago Mayor and Obama Chief of Staff, Rahm Emmanuel saying, “Never let a crisis go to waste.” Think about that for a couple minutes. And then think about this… for quite a while.

Within six weeks of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, the Patriot Act was rammed through Congress with only one dissenting vote. The Act was, after all, in response to a crisis. Right? It took away lots of individual rights, expanded surveillance powers, and made Americans less free. Interesting?

What if I told you the Patriot Act provisions were written long before 9-11? Say what? Much of it was actually written during President Reagans’ time in office. However, the proposals were rejected by Congress. More was added under President Bush, Bush the Older. The plans were again denied by Congress. Enter President Clinton and the Oklahoma City bombing. Boom! A crisis.

Immediately following the Oklahoma City bombing came the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act (AEDPA). And that legislation contained many of the proposed laws put forth by Reagan, Bush, and Clinton. Crises at hand and Congress passed it with flying colors. See how it works? Expanding government regulation, difficulty passing legislation, introduce a crisis, and you have the solution. Repeat. Isn’t that fascinating and disturbing at the same time? Could it be a mere tactic of the Deep State? You decide.

The towers of the World Trade Center came crashing down, and like Houdini Bush, the Younger has the solution ‘written’ and passed in six weeks. Voila’ The Patriot Act! The Patriot Act completed the legislation of three previous Presidents. Isn’t that clever? Our elected officials might actually have a plan after all?

Why would our current crisis, the Coronavirus, be any different? It may turn out a deadly virus that ravages the world. Or it may be a false flag. You be the judge. But remember, the issue is never the issue and never let a crises go to waste.

May we wake from this madness before it’s too late. I wish you good health and until next time… have fun, enjoy life, and watch out for the madness amongst us.

Johannes Vermeer – Paintings That Celebrate Ordinary Life

Johannes Vermeer (1632 – 1675) was a Dutch Baroque Period painter who is acknowledged as one of the greatest painters of the Dutch Golden Age.

The Dutch Golden Sexologist in Delhi Age was a unique period in the history of the Netherlands spanning the era from 1581 to 1672 in which its political, economic, and cultural greatness were among the most powerful and influential in the world.

Dutch painting boasts some of history’s most outstanding painters including Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669), Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675), Pieter Brueghel the Elder (1525-1569), Jan Steen (1626-1679), Hieronymus Bosch (1450-1516) and Vincent van Gogh (1853 – 1890). Each Dutch master had their own specialty showing off their unique skill and attention to detail.

Paintings of Daily Life

There are thirty-four paintings attributed to Johannes Vermeer depicting 17th-century, middle class, daily life with almost all his paintings set in two small rooms in his house in Delft showing the same furnishings and often portraying the same people.

At that time, the most prestigious cultural works emphasized aristocratic, military and religious lives such as the great Renaissance artists who produced magnificent paintings of Saints, Angels and kings, queens and aristocrats who were celebrated on the most beautiful canvasses.

Johannes Vermeer however, wanted to show ordinary life and daily activities is heroic in its own unique way like keeping a house tidy, sweeping the yard, babysitting, sewing or a kitchen maid – preparing lunch. These works are remarkable for their serene, timeless sense of dignity.

Vermeer wanted to depict through his paintings:

*a life rich in character

*ordinary life is worth celebrating.

These are the gifts of life that are rewarded and blessed by God.

Famous Paintings by Johannes Vermeer

The Little Street (1657-58)

The painting, “The Little Street” portrays a quiet street scene in Vermeer’s home town of Delft (famous for its Delft pottery and ceramic products). It depicts a woman sewing, kids playing and a woman busy in the yard.

We All Love The News

It seems now more than ever, anywhere you turn and look something important is being discussed. Be it something tragic, comedic, or excellent; there’s always a buzz swarming through the current news affairs and let’s be honest; most of us want to keep up with it. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to know what’s happening in the entertainment industry, at your children’s schools, and over-seas at the same time. While they may not all share the same level of importance to you, the point is news media is massive and consumes a lot of our daily lives.

Casual and Serious Watchers Alike!

You may try to hide it, may try to reduce it, but in the end a casual tracker of current news affairs loves it just as much as the rest of us. It’s news for a reason. Because to someone, somewhere, it’s important and people want to know about it. You shouldn’t be ashamed that you enjoy tracking the latest scoops throughout the day. Just look at the more serious watchers. A news channel on every station, Serphoholic Media on the web, and even a little podcast coming in anytime something exciting happens. It’s human nature to be concerned with the world around us.

Less Important News?

I’ll be the first to admit that some news isn’t really news, but not everyone feels the same. Is it necessary that we know every meal an actor ate on their last movie set? Probably not, but we still love to hear it for some reason. We thirst for the knowledge of what others are doing. Just look at things like Twitter and Facebook. We’re all constantly projecting our own current news affairs and keeping up with others we may not even know.

Revolution of the Web!

As I just mentioned with things such as Facebook and Twitter, the web has completely revolutionized the way we access news and media alike. No longer are we forced to sit in front a static-driven television as we wait for the evening news. With sites like Serpholicmedia we can learn about anything going on anywhere at anytime with just the click of a button. The world is filled withe eager writers ready to update the world with important news stories and they’ve noticed this.

Social Media As an Investment

In its brief history, Social Media, as called New Media, has traditionally been viewed as a place to meet new friends, reconnect with old friends and interact in an online social environment. In short, social networks were “a cool place to hang out” but held little applicability beyond that. There has been no shortage of funding in Silicon Valley for firms launching new media platforms. With the emergence of sites like MySpace, Facebook and Twitter, there is no question that there is value in the vast amounts of information on people that these platforms have been able to collect; however, there has been no clear monetization strategy beyond bringing in advertising revenue. Arguments have been risen as to the true value of these firms; some would state that their valuations are inflated and artificial, while other claim that the value of their databases alone are enough to justify multi-billion dollar price tags.

The New Value of Social Media and The Social Media Firm
More recently social media has spawned a new value proposition, which is the business applicability of the vast user-bases these social networks have created. Regardless of which side of the valuation fence you sit on, it can be said that social media holds vast utility for businesses looking for a new way to reach out to customers and engage in two-way communications. This has never been done before from a traditional marketing, advertising or public relations perspective, and has given rise to a new business model: The Social Media Firm. This brings forth the argument of whether or not The Social Media

All About Google Merchent Center

What is Google Merchent Center?

Google Merchant Center is a new service that makes it easy to upload and manage the Product listings you want to appear in Google Product Search, AdWords, and other Google properties.

Previously, you may have used Google Base to upload and manage Product listings. Google Base is still available for other types of structured content, but the Google Merchant Center provides a better, optimized experience specifically for merchants. The Merchant Center is where we’ll continue adding features and improving the tools for uploading and managing product listings.

What Google Merchant Center does?

Google Merchant Center is for those who want to submit products and sell them through Google. It used to be called Google Base. Google Merchant Center is where you upload feeds, check item status, and get information about how well your listings are doing. Your products uploaded to Google Merchant Center feed the searches that other people do for products they want to buy. For example, suppose someone wants to buy some dog toys. Starting at Google’s home page and clicking on “Shopping,” they’ll see a page like in the first screen shot. After typing “dog toys” into the search box and hitting enter they’ll be taken to a listings page.

Where to Get Drug Addiction Help

Most drug addicts are usually unwilling to accept their situation. This is a prohibiting factor for drug addiction help. Recognizing and accepting that the addiction is a problem and that they need help is the first step towards an addict seeking help. When someone overcomes the fear of what other people will think of them in this situation, then they are ready for help that will lead to a total recovery from addiction.

Once an addict has accepted the situation, then they can share it with trusted friends or family members. The person must let their family know what they are going through and how it is affecting their life. It is the family’s responsibility to give the addict the emotional support that they need at this critical moment. They will advice the victim, next step to take. This may require the sufferer to see a counselor or to take the addict to drug addiction meetings. They can also suggest that the person get enrolled in a drug addiction treatment center. One thing that someone is assured is that their family or trusted friends will encourage them through the recovering process.

Another source of drug addiction help is seeking treatment. When an addict has the encouragement and the backing of their friends and family members, they can now begin the drug treatment process. The treatment process includes sourcing medical drugs that will help in suppressing withdrawal symptoms. It is advised that once a patient begins the treatment process, they should go all the way to completion until the patient is sober and have resumed their normal life. With the support of their friends and family, the person will be strong enough to face the treatment phase.

A very important part of recovery from drug addiction is counseling. Drug addiction recovery involves change of behavior and therefore, treatment needs to be accompanied with behavioral therapy which should be administered by a specialist. Patients can attend general group counseling classes or they can look for a personal counselor. A counselor will help to know how to manage a person’s emotions as well as how to get busy with other things instead of thinking and using drugs.

Drug treatment centers are another source of drug addiction help. They are institutions that have been set up for the purpose of assisting drug addicts to recover from their drug addiction. There are rules and regulations and those who enroll spend a good time within the premises of the drug treatment center. The environment is made conducive to help victims in recovering quickly. Usage of drugs in these institutions is punishable by expulsion. Relevant programs are set in place to help the members enrolled to recover quickly. There is enough work for everyone to be busy which helps develop responsible and disciplined drug free citizens.

With all these sources of drug addiction help, an addict has no reason to not seek help for their addiction. If someone is a victim or anyone knows a family member or a friend who is an addict, it is important to let them know where they can get help.

Understand the Options for Choosing Diabetes Medications

Do you ever wonder how your physician chooses an appropriate medication for you? Do you feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of available medications? These tips will help you understand the choices that are available. In subsequent articles, there will be more information about each class of medication.

While there are hundreds of medications and combinations of medications available, there are seven different classes of medication. Each class works in a different way. Your physician uses his knowledge about you as well as your specific type of diabetes to first decide if you need any medication, and if so, which class to use. He then chooses a medication from that class. If you require medication from more than one class he may choose to prescribe more than one medication or a combination pill which has two or more medications contained in it. This article will provide a brief overview of the classes of medications and how they work.

1.) The oldest class of medication is the sulfonylureas. Until the mid-1990s, this was the only class of oral medications available. Your body must be able to produce insulin in order for these to be beneficial, as they work by stimulating the beta cells of the pancreas to secrete insulin. Some examples of the first generation of these medications are: Tolbutamide (orinase), Tolinase (tolazamide), and Diabinese (chlorpropamide). Some of the second generation medications are: Glipizide (glucatrol), extended release Glipizide (glucatrol XL), Glyburide (Micronase, Diabeta), Glynase (micronized glyburide), and Glimepiride. These medications are distinguished by how long they last in the body, and whether they are cleared by the kidney or the liver. There are two other drugs in this class: Prandin and Starlix, which can be used before meals because they last for a very short time.

2.) The biguanide class has just one medication, called Metformin. Other names are Fortamet, Glucophage, Gluymetza, and Riomet. This medication works by decreasing glucose production in the liver, and it also causes a small increase in glucose uptake by skeletal muscle. If there are no contraindications, the American Diabetes Association as well as the American college of clinical endocrinologists recommends using this medication first.

3.) In the mid-1990s, the Thiazolidinedione class of medications (also known as glitizones or TZDs) was developed. Their primary mechanism of action is to increase insulin sensitivity, which leads to more glucose being taken up by skeletal muscle. Three medications were developed. The first, Rezulin (troglitazone), was taken off the market because it was suggested to cause liver problems. The second, Avandia (rosiglitazone), was withdrawn from the market in Europe but was allowed under selling restrictions in the US because of an increase in cardiovascular events. The third medication, Actos (pioglitazone) had sales suspended in France and Germany because a study suggested it may increase the risk of bladder cancer.

4.) Drugs that affect the incretin system are divided into two subclasses:

a. The first division is composed of injectable drugs which mimic the effect of natural incretins produced by the body. Medications in this class include Byetta (exenetide), Bydureon (long acting exenatide) Victoza (liraglutide), and Symlin. They work by increasing insulin secretion in response to glucose (sugar), decreasing the rate at which the liver puts out glucose, decreasing appetite, and by slowing the rate the stomach empties. These medications have become quite popular because they can help with weight loss, and have an extremely low incidence of hypoglycemia. However, these medications have been in the news because they have been associated with pancreatitis, and may lead to a slight increase in medullary thyroid cancer.

b. The oral medications in this class work by blocking the enzyme which breaks down the incretins. While the level of natural incretins increases somewhat, these drugs are not as effective as the injectable ones. Medications in this class include Januvia (sitagliptin), Onglyza (saxagliptin), and Tradjenta. They are being observed to watch out for complications similar to the injectable medications. They very rarely cause hypoglycemia and do not cause weight gain. They are all being evaluated for a potential cancer risk.

5.) There are three Alpha Glucosidase Inhibitors: Acarbose (Precose), Miglitol (Glyset), and Voglibose. These work by preventing digestion of carbohydrates in the intestine. By preventing carbohydrates from being converted into simple sugars and absorbed into the blood stream from the intestine, this class of medications can help keep the blood sugar from rising after meals.

6.) The newest class of medications is the SGLT2 inhibitors, which block absorption of glucose by the kidney. By increasing the amount of glucose lost through the urine, and decreasing the amount of sugar absorbed back into the blood stream, blood sugar may be decreased. Because none of these medications has been approved by the FDA, the names of the medications are omitted from this article.

7.) Insulin must be used for people with type I Diabetes and is often needed for those with type 2 Diabetes. There are many types and delivery systems which will be discussed subsequently.

With a thorough understanding of your specific type of diabetes, your physician can wade through all the options to select the best match for you. More detailed information about each drug class will be presented in subsequent articles here, and on my website, Please feel free to visit at any time for information about medications, cooking videos featuring diabetic meal and dessert recipes, and current news articles.
